About Us - RTD Organization

The Cell Plasticity RTD project includes members of the University of Basel's Department of Biomedicine (DBM), the Biozentrum, and the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI). The coordinator, Susan Gasser, Director of the FMI, works with an executive committee of Gerhard Christofori (cancer cell metastasis; UniBasel, DBM), Dirk Schübeler (genome-wide epigenetic profiling; FMI) and Erik Van Nimwegen (computational science and transcription factor modeling; UniBasel, Biozentrum) to coordinate research and analytical efforts. All of the RTD laboratories are in Basel which facilitates interaction and collaboration.

Training in standardized technologies and protocols for transcriptome and epigenome analyses will be provided for Cell Plasticity collaborators. We will have positions open for postdoctoral fellows in the fields of epigenetic profiling, ES cell differentiation, and computational modeling and data analysis. We will have regular progress seminars and a Scientific Advisory Board that will meet with us annually.

Cell Plasticity postdoctoral fellows will be sponsored to visit other laboratories for specific training relevant to their research in addition to formal teaching in stem cell biology, epigenetics and computational techniques.
